Silas Abernathy Obituary: Raleigh, NC, Man died at 82

Silas Abernathy Obituary: Silas Howard Abernathy passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2023, at age 82. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Peggy, and his daughter, Jennifer.

Howard was born and raised in Harnett County, NC, one of six boys born to the late Silas and Elsie Abernathy. He graduated from East Carolina University and served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He retired from Purdue Pharmaceuticals in 2013.

He was an active member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling, working in the yard, playing Sudoku, and reading; however, his favorite pastime was spending time with Peggy and Jennifer when Jennifer visited with her golden doodle puppies. Howard will be remembered as an amazing husband and father who was always kind and caring.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
