Earl Atkins Obituary: Lyman, South Carolina – On March 9, 2024, the community of Lyman mourns the loss of a beloved figure, Crawford Earl Atkins, aged 90. Surrounded by the love of family and friends, Crawford passed away, joining his late wife, Louise Coleman Atkins, in eternal peace.

Born in Greer, South Carolina, to Mark and Mattie Durham Atkins, Crawford Earl Atkins lived a life marked by hard work, love, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. As a retired construction worker, he left an indelible mark on the community and the hearts of those who knew him.

Earl, as he was affectionately known, had a profound connection with the outdoors. His love for nature manifested in his flourishing vegetable garden, where he found solace and joy in cultivating the land. Fishing became more than a pastime; it was a way for him to connect with the serene beauty of the world around him. However, it was the world of sports, particularly baseball, that truly captured Earl’s heart. His passion for the game reflected in the enthusiasm with which he followed every match and celebrated the victories of his favorite teams.

Survived by two devoted sons, Crawford E. Atkins, Jr. (Teresa) of Tallahassee, Florida, and Samuel “Gerald” Atkins (Charlotte) of Duncan, Earl leaves behind a legacy of love and familial bonds. Unfortunately, he was predeceased by one daughter, Dianne Goode, adding a poignant note to his life story.

To pay tribute to Crawford Earl Atkins, a graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Wood Memorial Park. The service, conducted by Dr. Keith Kelly, will be a moment for the community to gather, share memories, and find solace in each other’s company.

Prior to the graveside service, a visitation will take place from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at The Wood Mortuary.
