Levi Acoff Sr. Obituary

Levi Acoff Sr. Obituary: Levi Acoff passed away at the age of 88, on Monday, December 4, 2023. He was born February 17, 1935, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jessie and Della Lee Acoff in Greenville, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Rowena Acoff. His children; Levi Jr., Demetric Ann, Alethea, Tanya Clara, and Alfreda Della Acoff. His Siblings; Jessie James Jr., Mae Lee, Addie Lee, Lillie Bell, Ida B, Inez, Thelma, Dellire, Willie, Gisso, M.L. and Elmo Acoff. Levi was in his early 20s when he got a witness from some pioneer sisters.

He started studying. Then on May 16, 1957, he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses! He shared what he learned with his wife Rowena, soon she began studying and she also got baptized! Levi served as a devoted Christian member of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 66 years! He had the privilege of serving as a ministerial servant and then an elder for some time between the 70s – 80’s. Levi truly enjoyed giving talks during this time as they were an hour long! He also enjoyed teaching his children about Jehovah and his bible teachings. He made teaching fun by recording them and speaking through a microphone. Levi was so proud that 7 out of 8 of his children became baptized Jehovah’s Witnesses! Levi was a very hard worker from a young age, working many jobs from UPS to GM. Many times he would come home exhausted from work, and he would give in to his younger children asking him to play kickball in the backyard. Levi was a very kind-hearted, generous, loving, and hospitable person.

He freely gave to others in need. Levi loved to travel to visit family in Mississippi, Chicago, and Gary Indiana. Some of his talents included sketching, drawing, and being undefeated playing checkers. He also enjoyed cooking and doing household remodeling projects in his home. Levi always made his family laugh by singing his signature songs! These songs have been sung for nearly 2 generations! We all will miss his charisma and humor.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children; Linda Jean Acoff of Ohio, Rowena Acoff II of Michigan, and Annetta Idona Acoff of Ohio. His grandchildren; Maurice (Linda Sue) Acoff, Vernice Baiden, Lamont (Kimberly) Acoff, Calvin D. Johnson, Deonte’ J. Johnson, Tiara A. Acoff, Kimani S. Acoff, Kassidi S. Acoff, Joshua D. Acoff, Kamylah S. Acoff and Dee Robinson; Great Grandchildren; Camrin Napper, Marcellus Acoff Makayla Acoff, Kyah J. Acoff, Laila S. Acoff, Saniyah Rose A. Acoff, De’Andre L. Minniefield all, and a host of nieces, nephews, spiritual brothers, sisters and friends! The Acoff family finds hope in John 5:28; “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out…” We look forward to reuniting with Levi in a beautiful paradise world.
