Steven Firtel Obituary: Principal at Oro Capital Advisors, Steven M. Firtel of Los Angeles, California, has passed away by suicide. He was married to Andrea Firtel.

He went to La Jolla High School and studied at the University of Southern California. He was the former Managing Director of Development & Corporate Counsel at Bomel Companies.

Mr. Firtel was a proven real estate professional with over 20 years of executive leadership experience in commercial/multi-family development/operations, mortgage lending, private equity, and related legal affairs.

Steven M. Firtel was the principal and co-managing partner of Oro Capital Advisors. Mr. Firtel has extensive experience in the acquisition, repositioning, and operation of commercial properties including value-added multi-family, retail, commercial, and industrial properties in a variety of markets.  

Mr. Firtel joined Oro Capital Advisors in the fall of 2012 and heads the acquisition, stabilization, and redevelopment teams while overseeing the daily management and operations of the assets.

Mr. Firtel began his career working for a private equity firm associated with Hughes Research Lab, where he worked closely with researchers on the commercialization of their technologies.  Post-2001, Mr. Firtel co-founded a wholesale mortgage correspondent bank called Trojan Lending (“TL”).  TL was licensed to originate loans through their $30+mm warehouse line of credit in 13 states, employed over 50 people, and funded upwards of $1 billion in loans. 

Mr. Firtel concentrated on the underwriting, funding, closing, and post-closing pooling of loans.  He successfully managed relationships with a variety of domestic and international secondary market institutions.
