Melissa Powell & Riordan Car Accident died in Broomfield crash

Melissa Powell & Riordan Powell Car Accident: Melissa Powell, 47, and her son, 16-year-old Riordan Powell, died in the crash on Main Street on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

A mother and her teenage son have been identified as the two people killed in a Broomfield crash on Tuesday. Riordan was a student at nearby Broomfield High School and Boulder TEC.

The Broomfield Police Department has arrested one person in connection with Tuesday’s (12/12/23) fatal crash at Main Street and Miramonte Boulevard, near Broomfield High School.

Jose Menjivar, 37, was released from a local hospital and booked into the Broomfield County jail this afternoon on charges of Vehicular Homicide Reckless, Vehicular Homicide DUI, and Habitual Traffic Offender. He was driving the 2000 Toyota Tundra that crashed into the victim’s vehicle, a 2016 Mazda CX-5.
