Washington, DC shooting: Two Killed, Five Wounded in Early Morning Shooting

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Washington, DC, was shaken by a violent shooting that claimed the lives of two individuals and left five others injured in the early hours of Sunday morning. The incident, which occurred near the intersection of 7th and P St., Northwest, close to the Kennedy Recreation Center, has left the community reeling and law enforcement authorities on high alert.

According to reports from the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting took place around 3 a.m. All the victims, described as adults, were swiftly transported to local hospitals for urgent medical attention. As of now, details regarding the condition of the injured remain undisclosed.

Law enforcement officials have launched a rigorous search for the suspect believed to be responsible for the heinous act. The individual, reported to have fled the scene on foot, is described as a Black man with an average build, last seen wearing light pants and a blue shirt. The D.C. Police Department has issued a warning urging the public not to approach the suspect but to immediately contact 911 if spotted.

Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll of the Metropolitan Police Department addressed the media in a briefing, confirming the tragic outcome of the incident. “The initial information that we have at this time is that a total of 7 people were shot at this location, two of which have since been pronounced deceased,” Carroll stated.
