Meridian Shooting: Emily Works, 33, of Meridian, and Sarah Walmsley, 41, of Boise — both died from gunshot wounds to the head.

On Sunday, December 3, 2023, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Meridian Police responded to an unknown problem call in the 2000 block of N. Cougar Way, Meridian, Idaho. The initial calling party indicated there was some type of domestic disturbance and they believed someone may have been shot inside the residence.

Upon entering the residence, Meridian Police officers and Ada County deputies discovered two (2) deceased adult females, Emily Works (33 years of age) and Sarah Walmsley (41 years of age). WORKS and WALMSLEY were found in different locations inside the house. Officers were able to quickly identify the suspect as Clint Caleb POWERS (31 years of age) of Meridian.

Officers began a search of the area and were notified POWERS then carjacked a vehicle on Zircon Avenue. An Ada County deputy in the area of Ustick and Venable located the stolen vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. POWERS fled the stolen vehicle on foot with the deputy in a foot pursuit, at which time POWERS fired several rounds at the deputy. Thankfully the deputy was uninjured and officers quickly set up a perimeter to locate the suspect, who then committed suicide in the 700 block of W. Indian Rocks.

The Meridian Police Department would like to thank the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, the Boise Police Department, the Garden City Police Department, and the Idaho State Police for their assistance during this incident.
