Vyleen White Obituary: Detectives investigating the death of 70-year-old grandmother Vyleen White in Redbank Plains on Saturday, February 3, have charged a 16-year-old boy with murder. White had been shopping with her six-year-old granddaughter at Town Square Redbank Plains shopping mall, west of Brisbane when she was allegedly stabbed in the chest in the parking lot. She died at the scene shortly afterward. The girl remained uninjured.

Following the terrible occurrence, police launched Operation Whisky Cause, and after extensive investigations, Ipswich detectives discovered and detained a 16-year-old Bellbird Park boy at a unit complex in Bellbird Park at 2.45 p.m. on Monday, February 5.

He has been charged with homicide, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and three counts of theft. He is scheduled to appear in Ipswich Children’s Court on Tuesday, February 6. In addition, a 16-year-old Goodna boy was found and apprehended in Riverview around 11 a.m. on Monday, February 5.

He was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is scheduled to appear in Richlands Children’s Court on Tuesday, February 6. On Monday, February 5, shortly before 3 p.m., police spotted and apprehended another 16-year-old kid from Bellbird Park.

These charges are in addition to those brought against the 15-year-old Ripley boy who was detained and charged on Sunday, February 4. Police described the attack as a “callous, cowardly, violent crime” against a loving family mom.
