Rachel Humphries Obituary, Rutherford County resident died at 93
Rachel Humphries Obituary: Rachel Hodge Humphries, a cherished member of the Rutherford County community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills at the age of 93.
She was born to the late Charles W. Hodge and Arlou Stone Hodge and was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County. Rachel was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eldon Reid Humphries, and nine siblings: Lottie Holland, Gibon Hodge, Esper Hodge, Pvt 1st Class Charles Hodge, Joe Hodge, Clarence Hodge, Beatrice Ervin, Kate Hodge, and Bernice Searcy.
Rachel led a fulfilling life, dedicating 44 years of service as a bookkeeper at A&P Grocery before retiring. Her commitment to her work was matched by her devotion to her family. Rachel is survived by her loving daughter, Jane Humphries Blanton, and her son, Phillip Eldon Humphries, along with three cherished grandchildren: Joshua Humphries, Caleb Humphries (McKenzie), and Garrett Blanton.
Rachel’s family would like to extend special recognition to her caregiver, Ramona Upton, for her dedicated and compassionate care.
A visitation for Rachel will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Rachel will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering love for her family, and her commitment to her community. Her legacy of love and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
