Konstantin Koltsov Cause of death: The death of former NHL ice hockey player Konstantin Koltsov, the boyfriend of tennis star Aryna Sabalenka, is being treated as an “apparent suicide”, Miami Police said on Tuesday.

Koltsov played for the Belarus national team in the 2002 and 2010 Olympics and spent parts of three seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2002 and 2006.

After his pro hockey days in America, Koltsov played for the Russian squad Salavat Yulaev and served as an assistant coach for the same team after his playing days were over.

Koltsov gained notoriety again after entering into a romantic relationship with Belarusian tennis star Aryna Sabalenka in 2021.

Koltsov is believed to have died in Miami, where Sabalenka was preparing to play in this weekend’s Miami Open.

Aryna Sabalenka is a Belarusian professional tennis player, born on May 5, 1998, in Minsk, Belarus. She has achieved the world No. 1 ranking in both singles and doubles by the Women’s Tennis Association.

Standing at 1.82 meters tall and weighing 79 kilograms, Sabalenka is known for her powerful game on the court. She has won two Grand Slam titles in singles. Aryna’s parents are Sergey Sabalenka and Yulia Sabalenka.
