Carl Simpson Obituary: Owner Of Simpson Hardware, man died at 82

Carl Simpson Obituary: Carl Marks Simpson, III, aged 82, beloved husband of Catherine “Cathy” Mellon Simpson, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born in Montgomery, Alabama, he was the son of the late Carl Marks Simpson, Jr. and Frances Ray Simpson.

Mr. Simpson earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and went on to become the owner of Simpsons Hardware. Despite facing challenges, including the loss of the Palmetto Plaza Store in a fire, he was honored as Sumter’s 2002 Business Person of the Year. He was a dedicated member of St. James Lutheran Church and cherished his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather above all else.

Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Scott Landrum officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home.
