Nathan Kerstetter Obituary: In a tragic incident detailed in a crash report from the state police at Rockview, a man riding on the back of a garbage truck met his untimely demise on Wednesday. The fatal event occurred when the truck’s driver made a sudden turn, colliding with a tree in Centre County.

Nathan R. Kerstetter, 38, hailing from Milesburg, Pennsylvania, was hanging off the back of the truck around noon when the collision transpired. The unfortunate incident took place along the 200 block of North Main Street in Port Matilda, according to the police report.

A statement released on Thursday by Chief Deputy Coroner J.D. Kubalak confirmed Kerstetter’s passing, attributing it to blunt force trauma to the head. Response efforts involved the Port Matilda Fire Company, Geisinger LifeFlight, Centre LifeLink EMS, and Port Matilda Emergency Medical Services.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, an email sent out on Thursday by a spokeswoman for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Department of Labor indicated an ongoing investigation into Kerstetter’s death.
