Hayden Lence Obituary-Accident: Hayden Lence, Herrin High School graduate passed away in Jefferson County Crash on December 10, 2023.

The City of Herrin and Herrin High School have identified one of the three men killed in a two-vehicle crash in Scheller as 2021 graduate Hayden Lence.

Hayden played football and basketball for Herrin High. The City of Herrin confirmed he worked for the Public Works Department at the time of his death.

Lance was one of three individuals killed just before midnight late Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in Scheller.

The names of the three individuals who lost their lives in a deadly two-vehicle crash in Jefferson County were released on Monday.

In one car, Bryce Middleton, 20 of DuBois, and his passenger Hayden Lence, 20 of Herrin passed away as a result of the crash. The driver of the second vehicle was Joshua Chapman, 37 of Collinsville, who also passed away.

The crash happened at 11:59 p.m. at the intersection of E. Dubois Rd and N. Pulsar Ln. in Scheller near Waltonville.
