Seven Oaks Mall Shooting: The victim of a fatal shooting on Saturday night (Jan. 20) in Abbotsford is a man scheduled for sentencing on Tuesday regarding a 2020 gang shootout, as per information obtained by The Abbotsford News.

A reliable confidential source has verified that the individual shot in a covered parkade outside the Best Buy at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre is Amritpal Saran, 25, known by the nickname “Umba.” Saran marks Abbotsford’s first homicide of the year.

On, January 20th, 2024, at 5:51 p.m., Patrol officers of the Abbotsford Police Department responded to a parking lot within the 32900 block of South Fraser Way, Abbotsford, BC, for a reported shooting.

Upon attendance at the scene, officers located a 25-year-old male with serious and life-threatening injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. First aid was immediately provided, however, the victim succumbed to the injuries.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages, with early indications suggesting this incident is targeted. AbbyPD has informed the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (I.H.I.T.), which has since been deployed.
